Lions International Purposes

1919.7._제3차 시카고 국제대회에서 채택

1. 봉사단체로서 라이온스클럽을 조직, 차터를 발급하고 관리한다.
To Organize, charter and supervise service clubs to be known as Lions clubs.

2. 라이온스클럽 활동사항을 조정하고 클럽운영을 표준화한다.
To Coordinate the activities and standardize the administration of Lions clubs.

3. 세계 인류 상호간의 이해심을 배양하고 증진시킨다.
To Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.

4. 건전한 국가관과 시민의식을 고취시킨다.
To Promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.

5. 지역사회의 생활개선, 사회복지, 공덕심 함양에 적극적인 관심을 갖는다.
To Take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.

6. 우의와 협력 그리고 상호 이해로 클럽 간의 유대를 돈독히 한다.
To Unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.

7. 정당과 종교문제를 제외한 일반인의 관심사인 모든 문제 해결을 위한 토론의 장을 마련한다.
To Provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest；provide, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.

8. 지역사회의 숨은 자원 봉사인을 격려하며, 각 분야의 효율성을 제고하고 도덕심을 향상시킨다.
To Encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.

Lions Code of Ethics

1918.8._제2차 세인트루이스 국제대회에서 채택

1 . 자기 직업에 긍지를 가지고 근면성실하여 힘써 사회에 봉사한다.
To Show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.

2 . 부정한 이득을 배제하고 정당한 방법으로 성공을 기도한다.
To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.

3 . 남을 해하지 아니하고 자기 직무에 충실히 임한다.
To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.

4 . 남을 의심하기 전에 먼저 자기를 반성한다.
Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.

5 . 우의를 돈독하게 하며, 이를 이용하지 아니한다.
To Hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.

6 . 선량한 시민으로서 자기의무를 다하며 국가민족 사회의 발전을 위하여 노력한다.
Always to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor and means.

7 . 불행한 사람을 위로하고 약한 사람을 도와준다.
To Aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.

8 . 남을 비판하는데 조심하고 칭찬하는데 인색하지 아니하며 모든 문제를 건설적인 방향으로 추진한다.
To Be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.
